The Royal British Legion (RBL), supported by Woking Borough Council, is holding a Surrey Poppy Day on Monday 27 October in Jubilee Square.

The launch will include a parade marching into the Square through the Town Gate for an 11am start, where the Mayor of Woking, Councillor Tony Branagan, will be present.

The parade will be followed by a short concert performed by The Three Belles with dancing by Summerscales Performing Arts. A number of RBL Brolly Ladies will be stationed around the shopping centre offering poppies to the public, poppy tables will be on display in Mercia Walk and, new for this year, antique military vehicles will also be on show to the public in Commercial Way. All residents and visitors are welcome, and should be in Jubilee Square by 10.40am to enjoy the start of the Parade.

Every poppy helps raise the £1.6 million needed by the Legion every week to deliver practical help and advice to the Armed Forces community. Please do come along and show your support for the Woking Poppy Day.

Councillor John Kingsbury, Leader of Woking Borough Council, said "We are delighted to host the Launch of the Poppy Appeal once again. In this centenary year, it is even more poignant and important to remember those from all nations and all faiths who sacrificed their lives to give us the freedom that we enjoy today. I am sure that Woking residents will support our Poppy Appeal and ensure its continued success this year and for many years to come."
